New Youth Leagues Open!

December 1st marks the opening for youth lacrosse registration in  Loudoun County.  In order to support the rapid growth of the lacrosse in the county, some reorganization has taken place in order to better serve our players.  Eastern Loudoun Lacrosse, which had become the largest league within NVYLL, has split the existing league into three new leagues in order to accommodate future growth of the sport.  These leagues are Algonkian Lacrosse Club, Ashburn Youth Lacrosse, and Dulles South Youth Sports Lacrosse.  Each of these leagues, as well as the existing Western Loudoun Lacrosse, have geographic boundaries associated with high school clusters where the player resides...

The beauty of this approach is it should be very straightforward what  league your child should register with.  A very common question is “My  child is home-schooled… where should we register?” or “My child will be going to a private high school… where should we register?”  Again, the common denominator is where you live, and the high school your neighborhood feeds.

A couple examples…

  • We live in Lowes Island, and last year we played for ELL… Since Lowes Island feeds into Dominion HS, register with Algonkian.

  • We live in Belmont CC; Right now my kids go to St. Theresa, but will ultimately be attending Bishop O’Connell… Again, the leagues are geographically based on the public high school you child would normally be going to, so you would register with Ashburn.

  •   We’re divorced and our son spends time living with both my ex- and myself.  I live in Brambleton, my ex- in Ashburn Village.  What should we do?  Typically, use your child’s school as the deciding factor… have them register with the league associated with their cluster.

When in doubt, contact the various leagues and we’ll get you pointed in the right direction.  We look forward to seeing you out at a game this spring.

Help Support Tyler Roth & His Family

As many of you have already heard, one of our Eastern Loudoun Lacrosse players (Tyler Roth), age 11, son of Vice-President of ELL Peter Roth, was suddenly impacted by a form of a stroke. Many of you have already offered your help and support to Tyler and his parents (Peter and Lisa) and they express their heart felt gratitude.

If you would like to make an individual donation directly to the Roth Family Medical Fund, please mail donations made out to "Ashburn Ruritans c/o Roth Family Medical Fund" to Tom Ward 20949 Fowlers Mill Circle Ashburn, VA 20147

This fund will assist the Roth family with the ongoing and increasing medical expenses for Tyler's rehabilitation. Thank you to all the lacrosse families and friends for their continued prayers for Tyler.
